Mildred Hoffacker

HANOVER Mildred Mae Hoffacker, 93, entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, January 17, 2010, at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. Born May 1, 1916, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Felix and Viola (Bechtel) Amspacher. Mildred was the loving wife of Raymond C. Hoffacker for 61 years until his passing on May 1, 1996. Mildred was a graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She leaves behind five children, Leon D. Hoffacker and wife, Kathy of Hopatcong, N.J., Barbara A. Huepenbecker and husband, Philip of Hummelstown and Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Nancy L. Slothour of Hanover, Faye E. Lippy and husband, Jeff, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Janice E. Garrett and husband, Keith of Hanover; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Barry L. Hoffacker; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Ethel A. Laughman and Henrietta Leahman; and a brother, Kenneth Ampacher. A service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, with her Pastor, the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Viewings and times to share memories will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, as well as 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church. Serving as casketbearers will be Mark Hoffacker, Shawn Hileman, Ryan Garrett, Brandon Hewitt, Cody Spitler, Tylor Elder, and Joshua Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in honor of Mildred be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, PA 17331; or The Brethren Home Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
