To Allie/family,
You might not remember me, but I also graduated in 1994 (female soccer guru). I joined the Navy right after graduation only to have served the past 11 years supporting the Marine Corps. These last few years have been rough and due to the war, I have had the opportunity to grow close to many Marines that have left this world with pride and leaving behind great memories to remember them by. It sounds like Zack did just that, left this world, and at the same time, he left an ever lasting memory. Words can no where express the feelings of joy/sorrow in your hearts right now, so I will just say this, carry on with life the way Zack would have wanted you to. You are all in mine and everyone elses prayers.

Dr. Hoover has been a professor of mine for a great deal of my Graduate School career. Her teachings have been invaluable to me. Her strenth has been amazing throughout this continuing battle. I wish to extend my condolances to all of the extended family. I did not know Zach personally - however, through the many stories and photos it is wonderful to find out how great a human being he was.

Allie and Family -
My parents passed on the news of Zach's passing and I wanted to extend our deepest condolences.
It's been many years since we've seen you, but we have the fondest memories of two smiling, selfless, wonderful people who enjoyed nothing more than being together.
Our hearts and prayers go out to you and yours.

Zack-
You don't know me, but I am friends with your sister at school. We have something in common. My big brother just died of brain cancer 3 months ago. I am still struggling terribly. The pain never goes away, and even though this is very recent for chelsea, we are still in many many many ways, in the same spot. From what I have heard, you have touched the lives of so many people, as did my brother Mike. You both were too young, (he was 25) and deserved to live the rest of your lives in peace, and have everything you ever wanted. I know you and Mike are probably hangin out in Heaven now, bc he has seen me from up there for the past 3 months and has most likely seen that I have a friend who lost her big brother as well, so he was probably waiting up there for you. He is really really REALLY funny. Ask him about the time I drank from his sprite can in the living room....and about his Danny Zucko or Sound of Music impressions...he will know what that means. All I ask is that you and Mike watch out for both Chelsea and I, and give us your guidance when we need it the most. It will be hard for us being without you guys, but with a little push from up there, we should pull through. I am so sorry this happened to you, but Im happy you are not in pain anymore. No one should have to go through the pain of brain cancer. I have signed my brothers guest book (it looks EXACTLY like this, its just for the Baltimore Sun) so many times, and Im sure Ill be back to this one as well. Just take care of each other up there. I just keep thinking you're where no one can hurt you anymore, and where cancer is not even a part of life. You have lived strong, more strongly than most people in this world. You will be greatly missed and I promise that Chelsea and I will work through this together.
Love Always,
Laurie Lacey
To the Topper family-
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know what its like, and I see first hand what its like for my parents. Zack was a very special boy from what I hear from Chels. Its been three months and nothing has gotten better for us, it has only gotten worse. You'll be in for a long road ahead of you, but you'll be able to do it IN YOUR OWN TIME. The only thing I can say is that you have to just try your best to stay stong bc there is nothing else you can do. It just sucks. Hang in there, and if there is anything my family or I can do, let me know.

Dear Topper Family,
I was very saddened to hear the news about Zach. I had the opporrtunity to play football with Zach for two seasons at Ship. My second season I believe was the first time he was diagnosed. I will always remember him as a bright, friendly and caring person. It is so hard to see gentlemen like him leave this life for another. Please know that there are many that are saddened by your loss and also that are grateful for having the opportunity to have known him. His memory will carry on with me always. May God bless your family and help you get through these tough days ahead.
Sincerely,
Bill Ziegler

To the Topper Family:
How can such a brief encounter mean so much? Truly this is the legacy that Zack leaves. His kind and caring manner were felt by everyone here at Benefacts. His warm smile -- lit up a room.
I will always remember his stories of horsebackriding and vacationing on the open range.
My prayers are with the family.

To Allie,
I am so glad that God allowed me to meet you & Zack. I worked with Zack in Owings Mills, MD at Aon.
Zack is the most positive person I have ever met. He really loved life and enjoyed his time on earth to the fullest. He loved football! He always talked about his days at Shippensburg and although he worked in "Ravens' Land", he was very loyal to the Steelers.
He also always talked about how much he loved you Allie (and family)! He told us about all the Cape May trips and other vacations. He always brought in photos to share with us.
May God hold you, Allie, during this time and provide for you and the Topper family all you need during this time. Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do.

To the entire family of Zack, I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy on your loss. You don't know me, but I played football with Zack at Shippensburg for 2 years before transerring to Lock Haven where I played against him. Friend or foe, Zack was always the same person. He was very kind, and generous with his time, I just remember how helpful he was to me when I was just a scared little freshman at Ship. He just loved life. Even while playing against him, he was still so funny and witty. The obituary was just so beautiful in encompassing everything Zack stood for and what he meant to others. I just want you to know that with his writings he will always have the ability to touch others. His poem "Tumor Roulette" which he wrote in 2000, I gave a copy to a coach I work with who is battling a brain tumor right now, and it is something that has really latched on to, knowing that others have the same thoughts, and fears, and it has been very inspirational to him. My prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.
God Bless,

My deepest sympathies to the family of Zack Topper. Zack's obituary hit home as my husband was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. We are so sorry to hear about Zack's passing. Dave, about a year or so ago I asked your mom for a picture of Zack so that we could see him and it would remind us to pray for him.
