Ralph MacDonald Obituary

DANSVILLE - Ralph W. MacDonald, 71 years of age, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2014) at the Fred and Harriett Taylor Healthcare Facility in Bath. Ralph was born Sept. 1, 1943, the son of the late Arlo and Velma (Perry) MacDonald. He was a graduate of Dansville Central School Class of 1961.

He had been employed as a welder for the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville, leaving there in 1995 after 29 years of service. He continued his employment with Expressway Auto Auction in Dansville as a Vehicle Transporter retiring in 2004 after 6 ½ years of service. Ralph was an avid bowler who had enjoyed bowling in many different leagues over the years. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, along with the time he spent working, but most of all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Ralph was a charter member of the Dansville Ambulance Company and a former member of the Union Hose Co. No. 1, both of Dansville.

Besides his parents Arlo (1993) and Velma (2001) (Perry) MacDonald, Ralph was also predeceased by a daughter, Roxanne (MacDonald) Putney, on Oct. 4, 1988; a granddaughter, Katie Michele Burr (Nov. 27, 2011); a brother, Richard MacDonald (June 23, 2013); and his former wife, Lani M. McEachern (Jan. 22, 2010). He is survived by 2 daughters; Rene'e MacDonald (John Pierce) of Dalton, and Rhonda (Gilbert) Dingman of Dansville; 2 brothers, Robert (Marge) MacDonald of Mt. Morris, and Roger (Linda) MacDonald of Sparta; and a sister-in-law, Harriett MacDonald of Sparta; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Ralph's request, there will be no prior calling hours or services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends who wish may make memorial contribution's to the Dansville Ambulance Company, 18 Ossian Street, Dansville, NY 14437 or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Rochester Chapter, 1200-A Scottsville Road, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14624. Ralph and his family have been assisted by the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples Street, Wayland, NY.
