Andrew Skeen Obituary

Mr. Andrew 'Andy' Edward Skeen, 90, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home in Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mr. Skeen will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Dennis West officiating and assisted by Rev. Lloyd Parrett. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 Funeral services are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Skeen family will receive guests at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM.
Memorial funds have been established and those who wish may send their contributions to Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005 or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 3143, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
Andrew 'Andy' Edward Skeen was born on August 16, 1921 to Andrew and Mary Elsie Skeen in LaHarpe, KS. Most of his early childhood was spent in the Allen County, KS area. He graduated from the LaHarpe, Kansas High School in 1940. In July, 1942, he entered the Army and served until February, 1946. He married Estalene Jorgensen on August 27, 1944 in Neosho, MO at Camp Crowder. After his honorable discharge from the Army in February, 1946, he moved to Wichita, KS and then later to Stillwater, OK to attend Oklahoma State University. In January, 1948 he moved to the Bartlesville area and began employment with the Phillips Petroleum Co. in the Research and Development department on March, 1948. He worked there until his retirement in 1985 after 37 1/2 years. Shortly after his retirement, he became a volunteer for the Voices of the Martyrs located in Bartlesville. He loved his time with them and gave 22 years of service. Edward was a member of the Church of God (Holiness) in Dewey, OK. He was a man of deep faith, integrity and principle. He loved God, his family and his friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Estalene, of more than 67 years; one son and daughter-in-law,
Ralph and Cynthia Skeen of Reed Springs, MO; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Glenn McClure of Overland Park, KS; Renee and Nathan Wright of Overland Park, KS. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: James and Paul Jump, Angela Cade, Melody Darnell, Veronica Ramirez, Melinda Dabney and Alan Gomez as well as four great-grand children: Priscilla, Andrianna, Kevin and Destiney. He is survived by 4 brothers: Wayne of Overland Park, KS; Robert of Wichita, KS; Harold of Rock-a-way Beach, MO, Vernon of Ozark, AL and three sisters: Dorothy Adams of Wichita, KS; Evelyn McCollom of Glendale, AZ and Mary Richardson of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Elsie Skeen; three sisters, Fairy Delight, Virgina Morrison and Helen Harris.

I have wonderful memories of times spent with the Skeen family when I was a child. I knew this man as "Ed" and he had a way of making children laugh and have fun. I pray that your memories of him bring you comfort in your time of loss.
