Christopher Cowan Obituary

Christopher James Cowan, resident of Ponca City, went to meet his Lord and Savior Monday, June 3, 2013, at his home. He was 24.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Osage Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Hutchins, officiating and Pastor Wendell Abbott, from First Church of God in Nowata, OK, assisting. Casket bearers will be Robert Cox, Kyle Cowan, Jesse Harvey, Daniel Stinson, Ryan Cowan, and Jeremy Cowan. Honorary casket bearers will be Jimmy Cowan, Jr., James H. Cowan, Gary Cowan, Andy Cox, and James Hicks. Burial will then follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Chris was born on October 19, 1988 to James Edwin Cowan and Jacqueline Lavone (Cox) Hicks in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was raised in Nowata, Oklahoma.
He was enjoyed all sports, fishing, and skating. More than anything he loved his girls; Nae Nae, Jane and Ashley. He loved his family who will miss him greatly, including his two best friends Ryan and Kyle.
He is survived by his fiancée Ashley Dirkes of the home; daughter Kylie "NaeNae" Cowan and stepdaughter Jane Elizabeth Haughn both of the home, he was also expecting a son, Christopher James Cowan, Jr. He is also survived by his father James Cowan and wife Sharyn of Ponca City, OK; mother, Lavon Hicks and husband Allen of Whitesboro, TX; brothers, Ryan Cowan and wife Annette of Ponca City, OK; Kyle Cowan of Bartlesville, OK, and Trenton Riff and Shelby Cowan both of Ponca City, OK. Sister, Kristen Cowan of Enid, OK; Step-brother, Daniel Stinson and step-sister Shayley Arruda both of Ponca City, OK; step-sister, Julie Hicks and step-brother Allen Hicks both of Bartlesville, OK and step-brother, James "Jamie" Hicks of Antlers, OK. Grandparents, Jimmy and Janelle Cowan, Sr. of Ponca City, OK, and Bob and Jackie Cox of Nowata, OK. He also has three nieces, five nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by son, Teagun Jayce Cowan; Aunt, Pasty Cowan Adams; paternal great-grandparents, Rolla and Helen Breedlove and Joe and Patsy Cowan, Step-great grandmother, Virginia Cowan; maternal great grandparents Earl and Grace Hudgens and Jack Sr. and Shirley Cox.
