Dr. Rory D. Lindgren

1957 - 2014

Dr. Rory Dean Lindgren, 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 surrounded by family in his home. Rory was born March 25, 1957 in Riverside, CA, to Rolland and Donna Lindgren. Rory graduated from Eielson Air Force Base High School in Fairbanks, AK in 1975. He began college at Kearney State, and was part of their football team. After his freshman year, he transferred to Oklahoma State University, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1979. While in school, he spent his summers working on the Alaskan railroad between Fairbanks and Anchorage. After graduating from OSU, Rory attended optometry school at Northeastern State University, and was part of their first graduating class in 1983.
Later that year, he moved to Bartlesville, OK, where he established Bartlesville Family Eyecare, and practiced optometry for 29 years. While in Bartlesville, he met the love of his life, Lona Larson, and they were married April 6, 1985. Rory joined the square dancing club, was a member of Jaycees, Elks Lodge and the American Optometric Association, coached many successful youth sports teams for his three children, enjoyed working out at the YMCA, and took care of his cattle when he got off work. He was an avid OU fan, and enjoyed watching Monday Night Football with a group of friends for many years.
Dr. Lindgren is survived by his wife Lona Lindgren, his two sons, Kyle Lindgren and Brendan Lindgren, and his daughter Roxanne Boyce and her husband Wilford. He is also survived by his parents Rolland and Donna Lindgren of Kearney, NE, and his sister Kristy LeClair and her husband Jeff of Norton, KS.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at Stumpff Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartlesville, where he attended. Pastor William Shupe will officiate.
