Michael James Lindgren
August 9, 1953 - February 25, 2026
Michael J. Lindgren, 72, of Kingsford, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
He was born on August 9, 1953, in Iron Mountain, the son of Jim and Joyce (West) Lindgren. Michael graduated from Florence High School in 1971. He went on to NWTC and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Architecture. He grew up in Aurora Wisconsin and later moved to Kingsford where he bought his first and forever home with his fiance Rebecca Lindgren in 1988. He married Rebecca in their yard in 1992 and raised three wonderful children together. They divorced in 2012 but continued working together for the betterment of their children.
He started at Pine Grove Country Club at the age of 16 and worked full time for 46 years. He continued to work there part time after retirement up to his death. He was a dedicated and hard worker both at work and home. He was constantly starting house projects to improve his home. He made flower beds and waterfalls from rocks he spent countless hours collecting with his children. He loved boating, fishing, camping and gardening and passed that love onto his children. He was always starting new hobbies including making beef jerky, pickling vegetables he grew and smoking meats.
Michael was an amazing and devoted father and grandfather. He put his loved ones before himself and was always willing to help others. Throughout his life he was drawn to vehicles. He enjoyed bodywork, painting and fixing them up. He drag raced in his youth and still had a love for the sport. After retirement he loved going to auctions where he got a thrill from the unknown with what he'll come home with and often stated "let the games begin" before bidding started. He kept busy in the garage fixing up the lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc that he bought from auctions. He definitely took a lot of pride in his children and every project he accomplished. He enjoyed telling stories about his life to everyone he met and never ran out of new stories.
Michael is survived by three children, Nicole Lindgren of Powers, Daniel Lindgren of Iron Mountain and James Lindgren of East Kingsford, one granddaughter Claire Lindgren of Iron Mountain, one sister Barbara Fayas of Breitung Township, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Joyce Lindgren, and his brother in-law Robert Fayas.
Memorial visitation to celebrate Mike's life will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm, with a service to follow on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at Erickson Rochon Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain.
