Wilbur Hastings Obituary

Wilbur Jerome Hastings (known to family and friends as "Jerry") passed away on December 26, 2018 at the age of 90 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Ok.
Jerry was born on June 8, 1928 to Wilbur and Rena Hastings in Okmulgee, Ok. After high school Jerry joined the United States Navy in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1948. On January 2, 1950, Jerry married Darlene Beeson in Bentonville, Ar. After attending the Kansas City Art Institute, Jerry moved his family to Bartlesville where he became Exhibit Director at Phillips Petroleum, and retired after 29 years.
Jerry was a wonderful, loving, dedicated husband and father. Jerry had numerous hobbies including painting, photography, fishing, and camping. As a young man he built his own speedboat and enjoyed working on hotrods. Jerry's artwork is currently displayed in several settings throughout the U.S., and his paintings are part of Gilcrease Museum's permanent art collection in Tulsa, Ok. After he retired, Jerry loved spending summers with his wife and family at their cabin in Colorado. Jerry was an inspiration and a mentor, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Jerry is survived by Darlene, his beloved wife of 68 years; his 3 sons: Danny; Mike and his wife Dana of Kingsland, Tx.; Jay and his wife Michelle of Owasso, Ok.; 8 grandchildren: Brooke, Brandon, Ryan, Todd, Olivia, Tyler, Allison, and Kennedy; 6 great-grand children: Tyson, Treyson, Hunter, Hayden, Corbin and Natalie; sisters-in-law Suzy Hastings, Delores Cole, and LaVelle Beeson; brother-in-law Dutch Beeson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his mother and father, his sister Virginia Lee, and his brothers Billy Bob, and Jim.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 3650 S.E. Adams, Blvd, Bartlesville, Ok., with Dr. Russell Hosey officiating.
