Louis Silva Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Retired Army Pfc. Louis Jose Silva, 89, of 1725 Sandra Drive, passed away at his home Monday, March 1, 2010. Mr. Silva served in World War II and the Korean War. He was the recipient of numerous medals and commendations, including the Victory-World War II Medal and National Defense Medal. After retiring from the military, he worked in numerous automotive body shops throughout his life. He also worked for International Trucking Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Irene Silva. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of almost 73 years, Della Aragon Silva of the home; a daughter, Doralene M. Wallace and husband Larry E. Wallace of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one son, Orlando Leonard "Larry" Silva of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Larry Silva, Lora Jones, Gene Wallace, Robert Wallace and Gary Silva; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Sanchez of Bayfield, Colo. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 tonight, Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Mr. Silva will be laid to rest in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, with the rendering of full military honors. Services entrusted to Rogers & Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
