Meis, Henry J.

Henry J. Meis, age 78, of Beaver Dam, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home.

Henry was born on December 13, 1935, in Lomira, WI, a son of Bernard and Pauline (Gosen) Meis. In the fall of 1959, he married Renate A. Berndt while serving in the United States Army in Germany. Henry grew up on a farm and loved farming. He was involved in many family businesses over the course of his life, including Heling Implement Company, Sears Dealer Store, Hardee's, Citgo, Maytag Laundry and U-Store Mini-Warehousing.

Henry is survived by his wife Renate of Beaver Dam; one son, Allen (Lisa) Meis of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Renee (Fred) Welty of Hooper, UT; two grandchildren, Alyssa Meis of Waupun and Jason Meis of Beaver Dam; his mother-in-law, Elfriede Berndt of Germany; one sister, Marie Woehrer; one brother-in-law, John Abler; and also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Hans; his sisters, Lucille Kiefer and Dorothy Abler; his brother, Norman Meis; a sister-in-law, Bernice Meis and a brother-in-law, Gene Woehrer.

A Memorial Gathering for Henry will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
