Mary Borgen Obituary

Mary Ann B. Borgen, 78, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Hospice Home of Hope.

She was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Armstrong, the daughter of George A. and Esther T. Blanck Ditter.

She was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs Academy and later graduated from Marian College with a teaching degree.

She taught at Elmore School. She later graduated from Moraine Park Technical College as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed at St. Agnes Hospital. She retired in 1998.

Mary Ann was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community.

She loved being with her family, enjoyed gardening, and helping out at the salon.

Surviving are three sons: Jeffrey (Traci) Borgen of Ripon, David (Sandy) Borgen of Fond du Lac, and Michael (Deborah) Borgen of Tinley Park, Ill., two daughters: Debbie (Dave) Fryda and Donna (John) Ziegler, both of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren: Brian (Dani) Steiner, Jenny (fiancé Jimmy Mielke) Steiner, Nick (fiancé Jess Sippel) Steiner, Heather, Luke, and Jake Ziegler, Steven and Todd Borgen, and Sarah and Michelle Borgen; and five great-grandchildren: Sadie, Emme, Noah, and Olivia Steiner, and Kaleb Ransom. She is further survived by three brothers, Eugene (Candy) Ditter of Winona, Minn., Donald (Bernadine) Ditter of Glenbuleh and Kenneth (Grace) Ditter of St. Cloud, Wis.; and two sisters, Eileen Starnitcky of Glenbuleh, and Ginny (Mark) Petrie of St. Cloud. Also surviving are many friends, including Carla Bishop, LaVerne Kabot, and lifelong friend, Suzanne Higgins. Also survived by Ken and Darlyene Bedker,Ted Borgen, and Tom and Mary Borgen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; Kathy Cary and Carol Beuk; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Sippel and Wayne Starnitcky; and a sister in law, Erica Borgen.

VISITATION: Visitation for Mary Ann B. Borgen will be held on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home; and again on Monday, Jan. 16, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Av., Fond du Lac.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the church on Monday.

Private entombment services will be at a later time at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Mary Ann's name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of the St. Francis Home and the Hospice Home of Hope for their care and compassion given to Mary Ann.
