Royal McDermott Obituary
Royal R. McDermott, 80 of Fond du Lac, left this earth on Monday, January 30, 2017 to be reunited with his loved ones, painfree. He was born September 30, 1936 in Fond du Lac, the son of Royal and Ruth (Raiche) McDermott. On May 18, 1957 he married Joanne A. Neisius at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. The celebrated 58 years of marriage and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2015. Royal bowled many years, played softball, and hockey for the Bears in the 1950's. He loved watching his grandchildren play baseball, softball, swimming, football, and was an assistant coach for football at Horace Mann High School. He loved to be up north and also took his family on many summer vacations. Royal's legacy was being a strong, loving father, husband, and grandparent. He was our rock and will be missed by all of us who loved him.
He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth McDermott, Jane Keenan, Michael (Jennifer) McDermott, and Mary (Tim) Iwen; he was a proud grandpa of Justin (Angelique), Joshua (Andrea), Brandon, Nicholas (Amanda), Jessica, Lindsey, Jacob, Alaina, and Jackson; he dearly loved his four great grandchildren, Bradley, Leah, Easton, and Krystynn. He is further survived by his two brothers, Thomas (Joyce) McDermott and Kevin (Cindy) McDermott; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joanne; son-in-law, Jim Keenan; and other relatives.
The visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 from 3:00 - 7:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
