Hi Ellen, This is Richard Baker at Tulane 1973-1977. I was trying to look up Dave after all these years and I found this article. Are you the same Ellen I knew and the same Dave, too? If so, I have always considered myself lucky to know both of you. My heart goes out to you, Richard 281-433-6600

Learning very late of Dave's passing I was deeply saddened. Dave was both a friend and mentor to me at COMSAT. He was inspirational and instrumental in the early development of my career and I am grateful to him for his encouragement and support. On the personal side, I always considered Dave a dear friend. His dry sense of humor lightened our days – I can remember his grin so vividly as he found irony and humor in so many aspects of work and life. I regret losing contact with Dave for many years, but often thought of him and his influence on my life and always felt we would reconnect and perhaps even work together someday again. Ironically I moved several years ago to Longboat Key FL, very near to where Dave grew up in Siesta Key. I truly wish I could share local hot spots and stories of old with Dave about our local paradise. Dave was a very special person who made all that he touched a little better. He is dearly missed by all.

My deepest condolences go out to Dave's family. I worked with Dave for a while at Comsat and remember him as a great guy. We had many good times over lunch. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

I work in HQ Accounting in Waltham, MA. I do not recall actually meeting David, although I know he spent time in my office while I was there, many years ago. Since then we worked a lot together virtually. I could always rely on David to get something done, corrected or answered for me. And he knew I would help him in anyway I could, at this end. He was always great with the online 'smiles', often picking on me, or teasing me. I was very concerned when he told me of his cancer. I am heartbroken at his passing. He will be Greatly missed!

Ellen,
I can not begin to imagine what you are going through, but for me, I have lost a dear friend of 18 years and for me it is exceptionally painful. I truly wish I could have been at the service, but I could not return from California soon enough. David's last message to me is painful to read, which says, "Have fun in San Francisco, see you when you get back." David welcomed me as a friend the day I started at COMSAT in March 1990. Over the years we have shared our lives professionally and personally. We had many fun times together, especially when he loved to wear my firefighter helmet and draw peoples reactions when driving to lunch. And we always compared our latest gadgets. I miss David terribly, he was like a brother to me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I will never forget my dear friend David.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I will always be grateful for the opportunity he gave me to work for him at Comsat. I remember Dave always had time for me no matter how busy he was, and always had a great sense of humor. We will miss him terribly.

David was a good friend who I will miss dearly. I held him in the highest regard as a project manager at CSC - and knew him to be a genuine, intelligent, charming, and wickedly funny guy. One of my fondest memories is Dave beating me at chess countless times while riding the train between DC and New York. (I remember this, largely, because Dave took every opportunity to remind me!... but always with a smile.) More recently, he spoke at my wedding and I was again reminded of his warm heart and singular wit. "DB" was simply one of the most likeable guys I've ever had the honor to know - and Sevgi and I send our deepest sympathies for this truly terrible loss.

The memorial service was beautiful. It was great to hear about his early years, and to see the love and respect in which he is held. Thank you for putting up the pictures, also. Recovering from this loss is going to take a long, long time.
