Carl D. Compton, of Tavares, Fla., passed away Jan. 28, 2014. He was 84 years of age.
Carl was born in Floyd County, the son of Thomas and Bessie Compton, who proceeded him in death along with nine other siblings.
He is survived by a brother, John Compton, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; his wife, Rosemary Compton, of Tavares, Fla.; a son, Dr. Brett Compton and his wife, Lynn; two grandchildren, Dave Compton and Dr. Brent Compton along with their wives, Kimberly and Ashley, and a great grandchild, Devin Compton, all of Lady Lake, Fla.
Carl spent much of his life as a businessman in Ypsilanti. He owned and operated Carl's Vending Service, Carl's Standard service station, and Carl's Outlet Shoes. He was a hard worker even after he retired to Florida in 1983. Carl was above all a family man and he was very supportive and proud of all of their accomplishments. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at Hamlin Hilbish Funeral Home, in Eustis, Fla., at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4.
