Andrew Wooden Obituary

WATERLOO - Andrew W. Wooden, 89, of 71 Center St., died Sunday ( Sept. 18, 2011) in the House of John in Clifton Springs.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (September 20) at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Military rites by members of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion will be 7 p.m. Tuesday (September 20) at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday (September 21) at the funeral home. The Rev. David Mihalyi, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432 or Pathway Home, P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, 13148.
Andrew was born January 20, 1920, in Waterloo, the son of Clarence and Frances D. McGillvray Wooden. He had been a lifelong resident of Waterloo. He proudly served his country during W. W. II in the U.S. Army. Returning from the war, Andy became employed at Sylvania in Seneca Falls working there until his retirement after 40 years of employment. He was a member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner Van Riper Post 435, American Legion. He enjoyed coaching Waterloo Little League for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waterloo.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mona; two sons, Richard (Susan) K. Wooden of Waterloo and William A. Wooden of College Point; three daughters, Carol A. Keefer of Geneva, Brenda S. (Edgar Echevarria) Wooden and Patricia (James) Sherman, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Tasha Sherman, James (Eleanor) Sherman, Tiffany Hirons, Cara Wooden and Paul (Candice) Wooden; two great-grandsons, Kaiden Druker and Eli Wooden; one brother, Jack (Louise) Wooden of Clifton Springs; one sister, June (Donald) Murdock of S. Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Ronald and Thomas Wooden; one son-in-law, Satch Keefer; one brother, Raymond and his wife, Barb Wooden; and one sister, Harriet and her husband, Robert Greene.
