Ann Rogers Obituary

SENECA FALLS - Ann M. Rogers, 87, born Ann Martine Morehouse, of Seneca Falls, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Monday (December 27, 2021) after a brief illness.

Ann was born on Cayuga Lake in Seneca Falls, a true "laker," the daughter of Richard and Florence (Hitner) Morehouse. Her father and uncle were The Morehouse Boat Company. A graduate of Mynderse Academy, Class of 1952. While in high school her first job was a soda jerk at her grandmother's restaurant, "Morehouses." She then received her BS in Nursing from Rochester General's School of Nursing in 1955, where she also served as her class President. Ann worked many of the hospitals in and around the Seneca Falls area before she found her calling, working for local doctors in private practices. Her empathy, ability to care for those in need and her easy going personality, lend credence to the nicknames "Grannie Annie" and "St. Ann," as she was often referred to, by many of her friends and family. Her compassion carried over to many aspects of her life where she had served as a Girl Scout Leader, volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross and also helped fundraise for the American Cancer Society.

Ann was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls. On June 18, 1955, she married David Rogers, and the two shared 66 years of marriage. Not only was Ann a wonderful, caring nurse, but she also enjoyed serving and caring for her family and close friends. She had a sense of humor and occasional sarcasm that could not be beat. There are countless famous "Ann one-liners" and stories to be remembered by so many. She touched the lives and hearts of everyone she encountered. It is good form to leave where you have been, a better place, Ann did that in spades, effortlessly.

She is survived by her husband, David; children, Deborah Rogers, Jeff (Mary Jo Barbay) Rogers and Maureen (Eric) O'Brien; beloved grandchildren, Justin (Amanda Hamilton) Rogers, Brittany (AJ Daily) Rogers and Sydney (TJ) Radka; great-grandchildren, Piper Rogers and Liam Radka; sister-in-law, Claire Morehouse; sister-in-law, Kathi Rogers; stepsister, Janet Camp; Aunt, Betty Zeth; very special friend, Arkie Paradise; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family, by whom she was adored.

Ann was predeceased by her brother, David Morehouse; sisters, Patsy Heierman and Jennifer Wells; and stepsister, Joyce "Bonnie" Mahoney.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (January 5, 2022) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday (January 6) at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls.

Although I´ve been away from Seneca Falls for many years Ann still hold a special place in my heart and helped me become the person I am today. As said by the family Ann was known as "Granny Annie", but for me and most of Jeff, Debbie and Maureen´s friends she was known as Mom...I always spoke of her as my second mom for all the years growing up, working, playing and partaking in the occasional beverage with Jeff and family...I can´t tell you how many times I woke up on the living room couch after working and playing all night at Romeo´s. I still remember how Ann; without saying one word would give you that "one of kind" smirk, facial expression and shake of the head and you knew exactly what she was thinking...Ann, Granny Annie, my second mom, you´re were truly a saint on this earth and will be deeply missed. No one will ever be able to fill the enormous whole you left in this world and in each of our hearts...Our deepest condolences to all the Roger's family...
