Anthony DeJohn Obituary

LYONS - Anthony "Tony" DeJohn Sr., 94, laid his tool belt down and passed away peacefully on January 15, 2022.

Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday (January 28) at the Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, NY 14489. Immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, (St. Joseph the Worker) 3 Holley St., Lyons, NY 14489.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Laurel House, 224 Fair St., Newark, NY 14513 or the American Heart Association.

Anthony worked for the NYS Canal System, Dry Dock Road, Lyons, N.Y. for 40 years. He was a carpenter at heart and could build, repair, or create anything. His passion was building life-like model ships. For many years, he was an usher at St. Michael's Church in Lyons, N.Y. and in 2014, he was honored at a dinner for his over 50 years of service to the Lyons Fire Department.

He is survived by his son, Anthony, Jr. (Janice) of Chesterfield, N.J.; daughter, Debora (Christopher) Barry, Newark, N.Y.; grandchildren, Ryan Barry, Fairport, N.Y., Keenan (Erin) Barry, Rochester, N.Y., Trenton (Kristen) Barry, Lyons, N.Y., Darrin Barry, Farmington, N.Y., Nicholas DeJohn, and Danielle DeJohn, both of Chesterfield, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Lucas Barry, Rowan Barry, Benjamin Barry, Elizabeth Barry, and Noah Barry. His love and dedication to his family never wavered.

Anthony was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia (1998); parents, Michael and Rose (Maloney) DeJohn; brother, Frank; sisters, Mary Rose and Loretta.

Special thanks to Anthony's dedicated team of caregivers, Deb, Suzette, Cassie, Diane, Jennifer, Peg, and Tom, who allowed him to enjoy his twilight years in his home.

To Tony´s family. I am so sorry for the loss of Tony. I worked with Tony from 1956 until the day he retired and I still consulted with him after he retired. There is no one in the canal system that I had more respect for, than Tony. And I ended up working in Albany. Tony was a good man and my friend.
You are all in my prayers.
