Jack A. Bullock

1930 - 2022

SHORTSVILLE– Jack A. Bullock born June 7, 1930 passed April 1, 2022. Military January 16, 1951- December 30, 1952 Sergeant AUS.

Jack began his love for music playing Trumpet with the Geneva Appleknockers Drum and Bugle corps in 1948 while still a student at Ithaca College. In 1953 he returned from the Military and began to arrange music for the Appleknockers as well as playing with them. Jack was Married to Betty L Davison, and they had two children Paul and Lynn. His love for music really Exploded after that. Jack was the founder of the Gorham Pageant of Bands which he attended the 50th Anniversary of in 2011. In 1965 Moved his family to Canandaigua where he was the Music director for five years. In 1970 he moved his family to Miami Florida to finish his education and get his Doctoral degree of Music. In 1972 Moved back to Ithaca N.Y. and was the Music Director for Ithaca College. Dr Bullock taught instrumental music in the classroom for 20 years and held clinics and workshops in England, Canada and most of the 50 states. Jack got re-married to Rebecca G Reinsmith and they spent the rest of their lives together. Jack and Rebecca eventually "Retired" and relocated to Florida where he spent his retirement years. Jack never really retired as he worked as a publisher and has written more than 600 publications and is also the Co-Author of the Belwin 21st Century Band Method. Jack was Inducted into The Drum Corps Hall of Fame for his lifetime work with Drum Corps. Jacks holds an Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral Degrees in Music Education.

Jack is survived by his sister June (Bullock) Schaefer of Shortsville, N.Y.; his two children, Paul and Wife Janet (Lang) of Milford Massachusetts, Lynn (Bullock) Curry of Florida; and Stepson Rick Reinsmith and wife Jude living in Michigan. Jack was also a grandfather of three, Samantha (Bullock)Martinez, Erin Curry and Jacqueline Bullock. He was the Great Grandfather of Connor Martinez and Mathew Martinez.

Per their wishes Jack and Rebecca's ashes will be laid to rest together at their chosen site, in Brookside Cemetery in Shortsville, N.Y.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday (September 30), at 11 a.m. at the Shortsville Presbyterian Church. A gathering will follow at the American Legion Post 34 in Shortsville N.Y. at 12:30 p.m.
