Ruby Maddox Obituary

Ruby E. Wilmore Maddox was born June 21, 1928, in Jensen Beach/Eden, Fla. She departed this present life July 10, 2011. In Christ at death is to be with Christ in eternal life.
She was the great-granddaughter of Cpt. Thomas E. Richards, founder of Eden, Fla., 1879, and pioneer of the first Indian River pineapple plantation. A 1952 graduate of Grady School of Nursing, Ruby was a fourth generation registered nurse in the Richards family and a direct descendant of Linda Richards, America's first registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Freeman Maddox. They resided in Stone Mountain for 45 years and then moved to Cumming in 2004.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mary Simon; sister-in-law, Jackie Maddox; children, Larry and Katrinka Maddox, Dan and Pam Wolf, Richard Maddox; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Joseph C. Morecraft officiating. Burial service will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday, July, 14, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to Hephzibah Children's Home in Macon.
