AARON HOPKINS Obituary

AARON BRACKEN HOPKINS, 25, of Roanoke, Ind., passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018. Born Oct. 11, 1992, he was the son of Terry and Gena Hopkins. A 2011 graduate of Huntington North High School, he obtained his Associate's degree from International Business College in 2017. Aaron loved the outdoors, the ocean, the mountains, the woods and foraging for mushrooms of many varieties. When he was younger he enjoyed going on camping trips. Hunting especially for pheasants was one of his favorite annual traditions. Music was a passion of Aaron's, and he enjoyed playing a variety of string instruments. Aaron began playing hockey when he was seven and played through high school as a goalie. He earned four varsity letters from four different high schools (Northside, New Haven, and Leo) for hockey and Huntington North for soccer, even though he only attended Huntington North High School. Aaron was lucky enough to work in what he loved, which was cooking. He was a chef at Sycamore Hills Country Club. He enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and would sample his creations on his family. Aaron loved his family and close friends. His kind and caring heart will be especially missed by those close to him. He is survived by his parents Terry and Gena Hopkins; siblings, Alissa (Hopkins) Penney and Graham (Emerald) Hopkins; fianc‚, Rebecca Moore; nieces, Lillyan Wegmann and Paisley Hopkins; and grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Thompson. Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest "Lee" and Wilma Hopkins. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804). Visitation also from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the funeral home. Private family funeral to be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodburn Children's Home.

Aaron was the biggest goober. He brought a smile to my face so many times. So many memories with him: from bible bowl to kids camps to family camps to sledding down the hill at church to sharing a headset so we could listen to music as soon as church was over to our families camping at pokgan. Glad you were a big part of my life. Thanks for all the great memories. Prayers and thoughts constantly being sent for your family.
