AASEM ABUBAKR Obituary

AASEM "ABRAHAM" MOHAMED ABUBAKR, 56, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. "He was a loving father, husband and friend." Born Jan. 15, 1954, in Suez, Egypt, he was one of six children and the son of the late Mohamed and Fatema Abubakr. After serving in the Egyptian Army, he came to the United States on a student visa where he began a new life and started a family. He spent the last 11 years working at Lincoln Food Service, but is mostly remembered for the wonderful aromas he could create in the kitchen. He worked as a chef and banquet manager at the Marriott for 25 years and Hall's Guesthouse for 12 years. "He was a master in the kitchen whose creativity and passion for life always warmed the hearts of those around him. His love for cooking provided a comfortable and inviting setting where he shared his love with others." He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Teri Abubakr. He will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers, Adura and Adel Abubakr; sisters, Nagwan, Laila and Elham of Egypt; loving children, Jehan Abubakr of Cape Coral, Fla., Adam Abubakr of Indianapolis, Sammy Abdalla Emily Abdalla and Aaron Abubakr, all of Fort Wayne; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
