ALVIN D. HAPPEL

ALVIN D. HAPPEL, 84, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. He was a native and lifetime resident of Allen County, Ind. Alvin graduated from Central High School in 1951. He worked as a Principal Designer with Magnavox for 28 years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid I.U. baskeball and Colts fan and enjoyed going to horse races and casinos. His real passion was spending time with his family and his grandbabies. Surviving are his sister-in-law and companion, Joyce Schorey; children, Debra (Barry) Kolbow of Fremont, David (Janet) Happel of Leo, Dennis (Janet) Happel of Huntertown, Duane T. (Crystle) Happel of Salt Lake City Utah; stepdaughter, Joyce Hagedorn of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Marie Happel; his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara A. Happel; daughter, Dana Stallhut; sisters, Lily Tanesky and Jenny Shull. Service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home with calling one hour prior. Pastor Greg Hiatt and Gabrielle Ginder officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind. Memorials may be made to Heatland Hospice.
