CATHERINE McENTEE Obituary

CATHERINE A. McENTEE, 68, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home around 4:20 a.m. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Anthony J. and Olive C. Cathy started working at GTE / Verizon in 1969 and continued until retiring 15 years ago. The oldest of seven, Cathy was a big influence in the lives of not only her siblings but her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, not to mention cousins, friends, co-workers and just about everybody she met. She was always considered the "fun aunt / sister / friend", and she never hesitated to share her knowledge and experiences that will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her. During her battle with cancer, she continued to be upbeat and hopeful that she could "conquer the ________". She spent over two years traveling to IU Medical Center participating in clinical trials. Even after her death, she made one final trip to Indy as she had bequeathed her body to the IU School of Medicine. Surviving are her sister, Jan (Mel) Crawford; sisters-in-law, Pam and Betsy Warman; brothers, Tom (Debbie), Tim (Sharon), Vince, and Paul (Becky); 12 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve; great-nephew, Collin; and niece-in-law, Michelle. A traditional McEntee style wake starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at her place. All are welcome to come celebrate her life. Cathy was my classmate from grade school through high school. She was a funny lady and a friend to all. I am saddened to hear that that horrible disease has taken her but rejoice knowing she's at heavenly peace. I hadn't seen her in many years but have so many wonderful, funny and fond memories of good times with her. Rest in Peace, Cathy. xoxoxoxo

I am so very sorry to learn of Cathy's passing and send sincerest sympathies to her loved ones. Cathy was a friend of my sister Claudia from the beginning at GTE. She was with our family many, many times over the years. They were crazy fun times full of much laughter. Always the party girl and good friend. I remember her with great fondness. Be comforted by all the happiest memories.

Cathy was good friends with my aunt, Claudia Nagel. I remember Cathy around a lot as I was growing up. She was just as she is described in her obituary. Fun. I will always remember that about her and have many fond memories of her.
