DANIEL ALTER Obituary

DANIEL JEROME (COACH) ALTER SR., 79, of Adams Lake, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at his home with his family. Born Dec. 24, 1941, in Fort Wayne, he was a so of the late George and Margaret Alter. He was a member of Saint Peter Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree Knight. Dan coached 5th and 6th grade football at St. Charles for 20 years, was President of local 305 for 19 years at International Harvester, Chairman of 305-2911 for 16 years, was an Insurance Benefit Rep for 305 - 2911 and 57 for 30+ years, worked at International Harvester for 43 years and worked four years as the Assistant Street Commissioner under Mayor Lebamoff. Daniel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon M. Alter; son, Daniel J. (Linda) Alter Jr. of Kendallville, Ind.; daughter, Susan (Craig) Traxler; sons, Stephen Alter of North Fort Meyer, Fla., and Thomas (Jennifer) Alter; daughter, Marie (Jeff) Nedwick of East Lansing, Mich.; brother, George W. Alter (Patricia DeAromond); grandchildren, Danielle (Shane) Thomas, Evan (Alice) Traxler, Jason Traxler, Jenna Alter, Jessica Alter, Brianna Nedwick, Zachary Nedwick, Alyssa Nedwick, Bob Gamble, and Kim Meyers; and great-grandchildren, Isla, Ava and Aubrie Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 518 E. Dewald, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with Rosary recited at 2 p.m.. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Dear Sharon and all the Alter family
Deepest sympathies and sincere condolences on the passing of Dan. In the short few years we knew Dan at the Fairway condo he quickly became some we both truly enjoyed seeing and conversing with at the daily happy hour. May all the memories over his 80ish year provide you comfort.
