1964 - 2022

ERIC GLEN DOWNEY, 57, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at home. He was born on June 3, 1964, He so loved his wife and three children, his family, the Momper family and his dog CC. He was a Ball State graduate and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Eric loved his NY Yankees, golf was his passion and he was proud of his hole and one. He listened to Bob and Tom and loved his rock and roll. Fun fact, he also loved the Hallmark movie channel. He was the baby whisperer. He coached his sons in football and the players had no problem hearing "Coach Downey's" voice. He spent most of his career at Momper Insulation. He is survived by a loving family: his wife, Jacquie Momper Downey; children, Jennifer of Fort Wayne, Jack of Loveland, Colo., and Sam of Phoenix, Ariz.; father, Jack Downey of Greenwood, Ind.; and siblings, Mark (Susan) Downey of Indianapolis, Carol (Thomas) Kiraly of Granger, Kevin (Barbara) Downey of Fishers, and Kim (Bobbie) Moore of Whiteland. Also surviving are his adored nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Downey. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804), with calling one hour prior. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne (IN 46805), with Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, followed by a luncheon at St. Elizabeth's.
