JOHN G. WALTER

JOHN G. WALTER, 59, a Columbia City native, died at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 19, 1953 in Columbia City a son of John M. "Jack" and Betty Jean (Strouse) Walter. A lifelong resident of Columbia City until 2009, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School. He was employed at Harvester, Essex, Don Ayres Trucking and Wal Mart. Surviving relatives include his father, Jack Walter of Columbia City; two sisters, Sue L. (Bruce) Miller and Sally L. Gerdes, both of Fort Wayne; a niece and a nephew, Joy Miller and Ehren (Amanda) Gerdes. His mother preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. There will be no service.
