Judith Calvin Obituary

Judith Ann (Hill) Calvin, 75, of Sun Prairie, WI, and a woman of faith peacefully entered into her rest on Thursday, March 28, 2024, after a bout with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 20, 1949, the daughter of Alvie and Thelma Hill.

Judy graduated from Woodlan High School of Woodburn, Indiana in 1967, completed the 4-year Master Gardener Program from 1993-1996 and maintained active Master Gardener status for many years. She also completed the Ohio Florist's Association Short Course classes in management and customer service, 2001. Judy served as church secretary, counselor of FYSH Youth Group and a member of the Fellowship, Flower and Altar Committees at Peace Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin for a number of years. On October 20, 1979 she married Samuel R. Calvin at Christ Lutheran Church in Woodburn, Indiana. Judy worked at various places of employment throughout her life including, last to first, America's Best Flowers, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin; Wisconsin Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, Madison, Wisconsin; Pease Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Jung's Garden Center, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Mutual Security Life Insurance Co., Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Central Soya Incorporated, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Home gardening was her hobby for years, with special interest in shade gardening and other perennials. She also cared for numerous house plants. Baking was also a passion especially cookies and pies. She very much loved and enjoyed her immediate and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Thelma Hill. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Samuel Calvin; two sons, Grant and Ashley Calvin of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and Garth and Nika Calvin of Brook Park, Minnesota; three grandsons, Jagger, Caiden, and Hudson, and two granddaughters, Alexis and Peyton. She is also survived by three brothers, Gary Hill of Austin, Texas, Dennis and Tami Hill of Villa Rica, Georgia and Kent Hill of New Haven, Indiana. She also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are given to her family, the medical professionals of SSM Health, Sun Prairie Senior Living, and the pastors and many members of Peace Lutheran Church for their care, encouragement and support. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1007 Stonehaven Drive, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin with the Rev. Luke Werre officiating. Burial will follow in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall following the burial. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
