Louise Parlette Obituary

Louise (Roth) Parlette, 98, passed away January 29, 2025, at her home at Cedar Creek, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Her sense of humor and gift of laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Louise was born in Lima, Ohio on July 22, 1926, to parents, Arthur and Wilhemina (Minnie) Roth. Louise was the youngest of five siblings. Richard, Leonard, and Betty also lived long lives, with the exception being her brother Robert, who died at sea in WWII. Louise married Roger Lee Parlette on January 25, 1947. Louise and Roger were 1944 graduates of Lafayette High School in Lima. They raised a daughter, Nancy, and a son, Steven, in their home that Louise's father built for them, on property from the Roth family farm. Louise retired as secretary and bookkeeper for D&B Body Shop in Lima. Later in life, Louise and Roger became snowbirds and spent half the year in Sarasota for eighteen years. After Roger's death in 1998, Louise located permanently to Sarasota for seventeen additional years until it became necessary to move back up north in 2015 to be near family. Louise spent much of her adult life at the beach collecting shells and sharks teeth and was well known for her massive collections. Her brother Richard affectionately referred to her as "one shell of a woman". Florida, and all it had to offer, was her passion, along with her equally impressive Precious Moments collection.

Louise is survived by her son, Steven (Joyce) Parlette of Crestview, FL, daughter, Nancy (Alan) Buck of Fort Wayne, grandchildren Sherrie Buck, Amelia (Kedron) Rhodes, Jason (Shayna) Parlette, and great grandchildren, Ilana Rhodes, Titus Rhodes, Jordan Parlette, and Avianna Parlette.

The family extends a huge thank you to Cedar Creek of Fort Wayne for taking care of Louise for the past nine and a half years.

A celebration of life will be held at Cedar Creek 2116 Butler Road Fort Wayne, IN on February 14th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice 2720 DuPont Commerce Ct. Suite 210 Fort Wayne, IN 46825, Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service 1800 SE 4th Street Smithville, TX 78957, or an animal charity of your choice to honor Louise's love of cats. www.northernindianafuneralcare.com

While we only knew Louise late in her life and for just over a year, we loved Louise's laugh and witty sense of humor! My mom and sisters have fond memories of the fun we had at one of the Family Nights here at Cedar Creek, the one where we all were "smoking" candy cigarettes for 50's Night. One life touches many and we will always remember Louise.

What an amazing woman. Yes, she did have the largest collection of shark teeth and shell I have ever seen. She is going to be missed greatly.
