Matthew Faust Obituary

MATTHEW S. FAUST, 44, of Garrett, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, 5:15 p.m., at his residence. Born Dec. 22,1960, in Quincy, Ill., he was the son of Franklin Delano and Lucy Anne (Lemen) Faust. He married Susan L. Schumm on Aug. 17,1985, in New Haven, and she survives in Garrett. He was a salesman for Eckrich and Beatrice Foods (Sunkist) in Houston, Texas, before moving to Indianapolis for Sunkist. He also worked for Thrivent in Northeast Indiana for seven years before relocating to the Garrett area. He was a Garrett resident for the past 13 years, recently working for the Fort Wayne Newspapers. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Garrett, having been a past chairman for the church congregation. He was also a member of the Northeast Indiana Officials Association, having enjoyed officiating volleyball, football, and wrestling and was a assistant troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 178, Garrett. He participated as a toastmaster while living in Indianapolis. Survived by wife, Susan L. Faust of Garrett; twin son and daughter, Alex and Allison Faust of Garrett; and mother, Lucy Anne Faust of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Delano Faust; and sister, Mary Kunzman. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Garrett, with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Jeffrey Horn, of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett. Burial at Cedar Creek Cemetery, in rural Garrett. Memorials to College Fund for Alex and Allison Faust.
