OPAL ARLENE ADAMS

OPAL ARLENE ADAMS, 77, of Montgomery, Mich., passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born Feb. 2, 1934, in Branch County, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Eva Fern (Michael) Church. She married Edward Louis Adams on Nov. 8, 1952, in Muskegon, Mich., he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1998. She graduated in the class of 1951 at Montgomery High School, Montgomery, Mich., and was class Valedictorian. She was a homemaker, and a member of Stokes Chapel United Methodist Church, Montgomery, Mich. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters and was Past Grand Chief Of Indiana. She was an endless volunteer, helping at many functions. Survivors include daughter, Debra (David) Maurer of Battle Creek, Mich; sons, James (Martha) Adams of Pleasant Lake, Ind., Donald (Sherry) Adams of Angola, Kenneth "Skip" (Linda) Adams of Fort Wayne and Thomas (Jerry) Adams of Fremont; son-in-law, Rod Hantz of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Beckman of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Pearl (Larry) Miner of Montgomery, Mich.; and brothers, Ralph and Glen Church both of Coldwater, Mich. and Dean (Becky) Church of Detroit, Mich. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Shirley A. Hantz; brothers, Jacob and Paul Delson Church; grandson, Dean Hantz; and great-grandchild, Kailyn Adams. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Ind. with Rev. Trevor McDermont officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at the funeral home with Pythian Sisters evening service at 7:30 p.m. Burial in California Cemetery, Montgomery, Mich.
