We were privileged to know Steve and the Platt family during the time our son played on the Huntington basketball team. Steve Platt was gracious, caring, and could hold court in a room full of people with his humor and his ability to connect with those around him. He touched the lives and made an impact on the young men who passed through the program at HU. Thank you Steve Platt, and rest in peace. The Snider Family

When I heard of Steve's passing, I immediately thought of the ever present smile that he had on his face and recalled his little chuckle that often went with it. I was proud to call him and Peggy customers in our Drug Store in Roanoke. Our condolences to you, Peggy, Ty, and Polly.

During 1972-1973, I was honored to attend all but three of Huntington University "Foresters" basketball games, and thus became a lifetime fan of one of the greatest players ever (Steve Platt). I also remember seeing Steve play in high school (Union H.S.), and was amazed in 1965 when they nearly upset the Vikings in the sectional. His career as a player and coach was unsurpassed.
In 1991, I spoke with Steve during a game he was scouting at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. He was ever so gracious in answering my questions about his career and was very humble in describing his close relationship to all his former teammates. My deepest sympathy to his family, and may Steve always rest in peace.

Sad to hear of Steve's passing. He was a personal friend of my Dad, Max Hilligoss, and he truly enjoyed watching Steve coach and his basketball knowledge. Also, both being Farmers, alot of conversation on that subject also. Our sincere sympathy to his wife, Peggy and his children.
Sincerely, Carolyn (Hilligoss) & Stan Fisher
