Richard Duval Obituary

MANCHESTER - Richard "Dick" H. Duval, 72, of Manchester, N.H., died Monday, June 29, 2015, at his residence, after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, N.H. on October 22, 1942, he was the son of Romeo and Rita (Huard) Duval. He was raised in Manchester and later resided in Hooksett for thirty years before returning to the Queen city.

He graduated from Manchester High School West, Class of 1962, as well as New Hampshire Technical College in 1964.

During the Vietnam War, he served with the United States Navy Seabees.

Until his retirement, he was a lineman with Public Service Company of New Hampshire for thirty-nine years.

Devoted to his faith, he was a longtime communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church.

Dick was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Daniel K. Poling Chapter No. 992. In addition, he was a member of the Great Cove Boat Club, Eliot, Maine, the United States Power Squadron, and the Amoskeag Power Squadron. He was also an instructor of boating safety and marine electronics for many years.

Dick will be fondly remembered as a dynamic person who touched the hearts of those who had the good fortune to know him. He loved being with his family who brought him endless pride and joy. He enjoyed spending time ocean boating and fishing.

Family members include his beloved wife of forty-six years, Mary M. (Mullen) Duval; two sons, Gregory R. Duval and his wife, Stacy, of Andover, Mass., and Matthew D. Duval and his wife, Dina, of Dover; three grandchildren, Molly, Jacob, and Sarah; and many dear friends.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, N.H.

The funeral will be held Tuesday with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Webster Street, Manchester, N.H.

Burial with military honors will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, Daniel K. Poling Chapter No. 992, PO Box 983, Hillsborough, N.H. 03224-0983.

I always admired Dick because he was so good at everything he did whether working on his house or favorite boat.He was devoted to his family and was sure to fill me in whenever we got together. Dick and I spent many years working together at PSNH.I have many memories of the work we did in freezing cold and hot weather as a lineman and supervisor. Playing poker for nickels and dimes on rainy days watching the game you would think we played for hundreds of dollars.Good by Dick!
