Grace Houck

1930 - 2023

Grace Lorraine Houck, age 93, of Woodsboro, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at her home. Born May 11, 1930 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Meeker and Mabel Johnson Meeker Marion. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Smith Houck who died in 2006.

She was a member of St. John's Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday school teacher and supervisor of the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed baking, cooking, feeding birds and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are son, Kenneth George Houck and wife Lisa of Adamstown; a daughter, Jane H. Stitely and husband John of New Midway; four grandchildren, Lori Lynn Miller, Robert Paul Houck and wife Mandy, Rebecca Lorraine Giffin and husband Willie, and Jennifer Stitely and wife Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Kristen Black (Jarin), Austin Black (Tiffany) and Cody Miller, Nathan and Drew Giffin; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by granddaughter Patricia Black.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Spittell, her pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
