Katie Dickson Obituary

Mrs. Katie Evelyn Dail Dickson, 99, of Frederick, died early Monday morning, December 26, 2005 at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Henry Bert Dickson, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1979.

Born on October 7, 1906 in Edenton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cooper and Elizabeth Hobbs Dail. She graduated from Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina, with a degree in education. Before her marriage to Mr. Dickson, she was affiliated with the United Nations Relief Force and served in Cairo, Egypt. Later she worked for many years as an executive secretary for Equitable Life Insurance Company.

Mrs. Dickson was a member of Pullan Memorial Baptist Church, Raleigh and the Raleigh Women's Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Dail Luciani and husband Mike of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandson, Patrick Michael Luciani of Wilmington, North Carolina; brother, Nathan Dail of Greensboro, North Carolina and niece, Barbara Whiteman and husband Bob of Raleigh.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Dail.

The Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick, is handling the arrangements. There will not be a calling at the funeral home. A graveside inurnment will be held on February 4, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Auxiliary of Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
