Sincere condolences to the Maples family. I have not seen Sam in 40 years, but his picture jogged the most fondest of memories of him as my guidance counselor at GTJHS. Smiling laughing, always in his tennis clothes. He'd always make a special effort to see me if needed, and at that time I did need. He would send me off to be camp counselor at Mar Lu Ridge and Greentop in order to keep me out of trouble. Great remedy which I think of often. Great guy!

Allen, Maggie, I am very sorry for your loss, and believe his life should truly be celebrated. He really did like to laugh. I will think of him when I am out on the bay next time.

I will never forget the first time I stepped into Sam's home what warmth and love I felt their as I saw the concern that was shown toward his wife and daughter I can remember starting to call Sam little buddy at that time that he accepted with a quiet grace, I will remember his morning greeting of hey! and his crazy jokes , I will remember his crafty way of beating me in chess domino's, taking great pleasure in the win never underestimate Sam the man lol. all of our talks and prayers and best of all listening to him tell me his life story of his children or how happy he was when Alex or Liam did good in school and to see his smile when something pleased him or how he always called his wife my dear in the mornings. yes this is what I will miss about Sam the man my little buddy.

I send my sincere condolences to the family of Sam Maples. I worked with Sam while teaching art at GTJHS from 1965-72. He was an honest counselor and friend. His interest for the arts was so helpful with our art staff. His smile was contagious. God bless.
