Wayne Stalnaker Obituary

Wayne "Bill" Stalnaker Jr. passed away Tuesday, October 16 2018 at home in Frederick MD after a

brief illness.

Born in 1934 in Mill Creek WV, he was the son of Wayne Stalnaker and Lillian Ward Stalnaker.

Bill worked as a Union Ironworker in Local 5 from 1957 until his retirement in 1997, primarily as a

heavy rigger. From 1975 to 1984 he worked for Bechtel Corporation as Rigging and Logistics

Superintendent, traveling to Indonesia, northern Alberta (Canada), Colombia, and Papua New

Guinea to assist in the construction of major iron, nickel, and gold mining and refinery operations as

well as the first major Athabasca Tar Sands project.

He was a Master Mason for over sixty years, and a devoted Christian and member of the First

Baptist Church of Frederick. After his retirement, he enjoyed working in his woodshop and social

activities with church members and local friends. He also enjoyed traveling in the family motor

home and spending time in Florida.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Avanelle Tolbard Stalnaker, and is survived by his wife

of 33 years, Connie M. Stalnaker of Frederick. He is also survived by two sons, Michael and wife Lorrie and Mark,

two stepdaughters, Kimber and Kelly, four grandchildren, Ashley Shank La Gasse and her husband

Grant of Derwood, Chris Webb and his fiancee Ashley Hyrkas Frederick, Stephanie Shank Honaker

and her husband Ken, Jr. of Thurmont, and Kristin Webb and her fiance Jake Grove of Frederick. He is

also survived by two great grandchildren, Kenneth Allen Honaker, III and Caroline Rose La

Gasse.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends and loved ones please consider donations to the First

Baptist Church of Frederick on Bowers Road and Hospice of Frederick County.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19th at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of

Frederick on Bowers Road.
