William Devilbiss Obituary

William (Bill) McKinley Devilbiss, 76, passed away on December 4th, 2023. His wife was by his side in their home in Murrells Inlet, SC. Bill battled with Dementia for several years. He was born on January 16, 1947 to George and Ila Devilbiss and spent the first half of his life in Frederick Maryland. Bill is survived by his wife Julie, children Rob (Melissa), Amy (Glenn) O'Rear, McKinley (Alexx), grandson Ryan, brother Kenneth Kay (Melanie), sister Deanna Webb and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Bill was predeceased by his parents, George and Ila Devilbiss.

Bill was a talented musician and his love and passion for music started at a very young age. He loved how music made people happy. He was an amazing bass player and lead vocalist of local bands to the Frederick area, including New Breed, Popcorn, Jokers Wild (to name a few) and toured the east coast with Happy Feet. He continued his music career after moving to South Carolina and continued to touch so many people's lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, but in his honor, please continue to celebrate Bill through Music and Dance.

So sorry Julie, Bill was a fantastic bass player and a great guy. I loved listening to him in Popcorn at the Gold Dust. I still have all the recordings I made of the band. I have yet to find a band as good as they were. And that scream, I still don't know how he did it. I guess Marlin, Bill and my brother Steve are starting a new Popcorn band in Heaven. RIP Bill
