Dorsel "Jane" Carmichael, 84, of North Bend died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Jane was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Leigh to Emil and Josephine (Kumpf) Bakenhus. She lived at Leigh until moving to Fremont in 1940 and was a graduate of Fremont High School. She moved to North Bend in 1951. Jane married William C. "Bill" Chapman on Sept. 15, 1951, in North Bend. He died Jan. 14, 1963. She married Robert Carmichael on Nov, 29, 1967, in Schuyler.
Jane worked at several banks in Fremont, North Bend and Omaha and was a licensed real estate agent with N.P. Dodge. She was affiliated with Superior Hybrids Seed Company.
She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, the church circle and St. Anne's Altar Society.
Jane is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Revel Chapman of Morse Bluff and Ron and Mary Chapman of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Helen LeGrande of Fremont; one grandchild, Ryan (and wife, Shannon) Chapman; two stepgrandchildren, Adrian and Luis Guevara; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William; and brother, Walter Bakenhus.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend with the Revs. Don Cleary and Robert Chapman officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in North Bend.
Memorials may be given to St. Charles Catholic Church, the North Bend Library and the North Bend Senior Center.
