Joe Pycha Obituary

The funeral for Joe Pycha, 85, of Schuyler will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler.

He died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at his home.

Pycha was born March 14, 1918, in Decatur. He married Martha Tomasek on Aug. 27, 1950, in Clarkson. He farmed in the Stanton County area for more than 30 years and retired to Schuyler in 1979. He worked for the Schuyler Golf Club from 1983-84.

He served on the Stanton County District 38 School Board.

Survivors include: his wife; three daughters, Janice Pycha (Mrs. Steven Guthrie) of Albion, Maine, Julie (Mrs. John) Cech of Schuyler and Joyce Pycha of Lincoln; a son, David (and wife, Annette) Pycha of Schuyler; two brothers, Louis and Tony Pycha of Winnebago; a sister, Mary (Mrs. Richard) Heyne of Pender; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

The Rev. Dana Stout will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Clarkson.

A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
