Alice Fowler

Alice Marie Fowler of Sanger, California was born on July 23, 1931, in Fresno to Robert and Emma Coker. Alice passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008, after a courageous battle with Spindle Cell Carcinoma (Cancer). She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, a numerous cousins. Alice was born in her parent's home on Harvey Avenue in Fresno during the Great Depression. After attending Chester Rowell Elementary School she graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1949. At the age of 17 she was the night manager and baker at Nurmis Bakery. After High School Alice worked for Pacific Telephone Company in the Traffic and Business departments and also promoting the proper way to use the new phone equipment. Alice modeled for Walter Smith in The Fresno Bee ads in the early 1950's, and for various other companies in Fresno and San Francisco. She worked for Lloyd Merriman Insurance for five years then became the Property Manager for Freedom Homes where she worked for 35 years. Over the years she was affiliated with YWCA (Board of Directors), Mended Hearts (Trea-surer), and Co-Chair of the Roosevelt High School reunion committee, class of 1949. Alice loved and attended River Park Bible Church, she also attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for seven years (seven series) of Bible study. Alice was such a loving and giving person always putting others before herself. Alice is survived by Jack her loving husband; they would have celebrated 33 years of marriage on December 30, 2008; cousins, Sheila Hill of Morgan Hill, Bernice Perry of Fresno, and Jim DeBerry of Boise, Idaho. A Graveside Service for Alice Fowler will start with interment at Belmont Memorial Park on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a a Memorial Service at River Park Bible Church at 11:00 a.m. It would please Alice if you could wear either pink or red to show your support for her two favorite organ-izations, Cancer Research (pink) and Mended Hearts (red).
