David Franklin Griffin

Fresno, California - Dave Griffin was born in Fresno, California on July 8, 1938 as the 3rd son of Dr. Frank P. Griffin, DDS and Mary Ellen Griffin (nee Norton). He graduated from Fresno High School, class of 1956. He attended Fresno State College and then proudly served in the U.S Army.

On February 15, 1964 he married Frances Lee Griffin (nee Burkholder), a school teacher in the Fresno Unified School District. They were life long members of the First Presbyterian Church. Dave spent his career as an insurance broker. He retired in 2003 as Chairman and CEO of Aon of Central California. He cherished his relationships with many colleagues and clients.

In retirement Dave was a dedicated caregiver for his wife for over a decade before she passed away. Dave was a caring father and grandfather ensuring he was present at all family events big or small. He was a lifelong Fresno State Bulldogs, Giants, and 49er fan, and loved to travel.

Dave died peacefully on December 18th, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his two brothers Donald Griffin and Richard "Dick" Griffin and his beloved black lab, Jack. He is survived by his three children and eight grandchildren that adored him. Tim Griffin, (and daughters Frances and Sylvia), Ann Clark (and husband Steven Clark and children Caroline, Benjamin and Jonathan), and Carrie Graham (and husband Oliver Graham, and sons Finnegan, Casper and Zephyr.) He will also be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at Belmont Memorial Cemetery in Fresno, California on January 10, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a lunch. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hines Hospice in Fresno, California.
