Helen Strumski Obituary

Helen was born on November 11, 1925, and made her transition on Friday, April 24, 2009. She departed peacefully, quickly and with dignity. She was surrounded with love and respect given to her by her immediate family. Helen was employed as a secretary-clerk at The Fresno Bee for over 29 years. Her work provided for her three daughters whom she raised as a single mother. Helen's first and most important job was being a "mom" to her daughters, granddaughters, their friends through the years, and her great-grandchildren. Helen's wisdom and love will be part of all who knew her. She touched many lives in ways that only now will she know. You live on through all who knew you, Mimi. Thank you for showing us the beauty in life. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Jo-Ellen and Fred Sischka of San Jose, Carol and Jon Alsdorf of Fresno and Jan and Richard Krum of Fresno; her grandchildren, Kim Kirk of Madera, McKenna and Madison Krum of Fresno were one of her greatest joys as were her great-grandchildren, Travis and Conner Kirk of Madera. She leaves behind sisters, Betty Heizenrader of Morro Bay, and Ruth Otrich of Carmel; and brother, Richard Wharff and his wife Francis of Fresno. In addition she will be missed by nieces Cindy Goerten, Jerri Bittler, Susan Hansen and Kris Heizenrader. Helen's friends of the heart know who they are... There will be a Sharing of Memories at Villa San Marcos, 8145 Cedar Avenue (West side of Cedar between Nees and Teague) on Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.
