R. Anderson Obituary
March 9, 1933 - July 4, 2025
San Antonio, Texas - Dr. R. Gene Anderson, Ph.D. Communications Professor at CSUF from 1970-1996 passed away on July 4, 2025 at age 92. Gene was surrounded by his wife Nancy Baker Anderson of 64 years of marriage and children; David Kala-Angela, Ronald Kekoa-Amanda, Bruce Keahi-Karen (deceased), and Malia Anderson Mixon-Kirk. Gene began his teaching career in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1956. During retirement, they moved to San Luis Obispo, CA and later to San Antonio, TX. The extended family will be taking Gene's ashes to Hawaii for burial at sea. Gene faithfully honored God and family throughout his life. Remembrances may be made to Samaritan's Purse in his name.

Our most heartfelt sympathies on Dr. Anderson´s passing. I had the privilege of taking his introductory speech course early in his tenure at CSU Fresno. Gene was an inspiring teacher who conveyed the course materials with warmth, wisdom, and an emphasis on the practical. We will cherish the memories of our times in his classroom.
