VICTOR KEARNEY Obituary

Victor Thomas Kearney, Jr. went home to our Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Victor was born in San Jose, CA, on May 5, 1925, to Minnie and Victor Kearney, Sr. He attended Clovis High School where he played basketball and ran track, and in 1943 he enlisted into the United States Navy where he served in World War II. The majority of his service was spent in the Asiatic Pacific. While serving his country, Victor would send home portions of his pay to help with the newly founded business that his father started. Upon his return from service, Victor met and married his lovely wife, Hazel, who preceded him in death close to six years ago, in 2011. Coming home to the new business he worked and learned the trade of pattern making which he loved up until his passing. This new venture led to a number of successful businesses over the course of the next several decades. Kearneys' Manufacturing, KP Iron Foundry and Kearneys' Metal grew and further diversified throughout the years. Victor was an advocate and a local secretary for the American Foundrymen's Society for nearly 50 years. Vic, as his friends called him, was an avid golfer and member of Sunny Country Club where he could be found socializing in the club house over a spirited game of dice or cards. He, being a devout Catholic, attended mass every Sunday that he was able and continuously donated to help Catholic Charities. We would like to thank his capable, remarkable and caring team of in home care providers. A blessed thank you to Saint Agnes Hospice Health Providers, although brief, helped ease his passage home to the good Lord. Victor Thomas Kearney, Jr, a delightfully humorous man, will be deeply missed and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Victor is survived by his son, Victor Thomas Kearney, III and his wife Janet; daughter, Kimberly vanWinkle and her husband Thomas; four loving grandchildren, Michelle Weber and her husband Scott, Brooke Adams and her husband Allen, Christopher Piland, and Lauren Piland; two precious great- grandchildren, Michael and Matty Weber; brother, Gary Kearney and his wife Helen; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many special friends who enjoyed spending good times together. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 929 Harvard Avenue, Clovis CA, on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. On behalf of my mom, Kathleen Cribari, and my sisters, Christine, Ann and Jill, and all our families, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to our beloved cousin Vic's family, extended family and his many friends. Our world was a better place for having a man like Vic in it and heaven has definitely gained one of the good guys.
I'll always remember him and Hobo riding in his golf cart surveying his beautiful lake and property.
He was a kind-hearted man and we will all fondly treasure the times we were able to spend with Vic over the years.
Prayers of peace going up for cousin Gary, Vic & Hazel's kids, grandkids, and all who knew and loved him. We find comfort knowing we will all one day be reunited through faith in God's eternal glory.
With love and respect...Ed Cribari

Uncle Vic had my respect and as far as I'm concerned he was a walking talking example of class and dignity. I'm very glad I got to know him especially well over these past couple of years.
