Barbara Farish

1932 - 2024

Gaffney, SC - Barbara Daniel Farish, 92, of Gaffney, passed away at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

Born March 28, 1932 in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dewey B. Daniel and Ruth Chaney Daniel. She was married to O. C. Farish, Sr. for 63 years before his death in 2013.

Barbara worked for seventeen years at Gaffney High School as secretary to the Athletic Director. She was also secretary at Buford Street United Methodist Church where she was an active member. She served on several committees and was a choir and WMU member. She was honored by her church for having served as communion steward for over 20 years.

Barbara was an excellent cook and used her baking skills making cakes and cookies for friends and church. She loved gardening and was known for her beautiful rose garden.

Barbara was the mother of two children, O'Neil C. Farish, Jr., who preceded her in death, and Steve D. Farish (Harriet) of Gaffney. In addition to her husband, son and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack E. Daniel and Richard D. Daniel, and sisters, Theda Farish and Ramona Clary. She is survived by her brother, Mike Daniel of Gaffney and sister, Judith Hicks of La Grange, GA.

Barbara was so proud to have four grandchildren, Jennifer Waters (Steve), Clint Farish (Rachel), Jessica Farish and Christopher Farish (Alex). She had seven great-grandchildren, McCain, Gracyn, Ella, Caleb, Jade, Joseph and Emmalyn.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 3:00PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Buford Street United Methodist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow at 3:00PM at the Church with Reverend Dave Nichols officiating.
