Gaffney, SC - Rev. Henry Guyton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Henry was the son of the late Aaron Guyton and Alice Gordon Guyton. He faithfully served as Pastor of South Side Free Will Baptist Church in Valley Falls, SC for 52 years. He retired from Vulcan Materials in Blacksburg, SC after 35 years of dedicated service.
Henry enjoyed planting his garden each year and generously shared his harvest with anyone who stopped by. He was well known for the goodness and kindness he showed to everyone he met. He loved sharing the Word of God with anyone who would listen and had the blessing of leading many souls to salvation.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Guyton; two children, Joyce Lorreta Guyton and Henry Earl Guyton; eight sisters, Alta Horton, Louise Phillips, Beulah Hughey, Bonnie Martin, Betty Blanton, Nancy Spence, Sally Guyton; and one brother, Aaron Junior Guyton.
He leaves behind two children, Randy Guyton of Gaffney and Rhonda Scruggs (Steve) of Gaffney. He also had the special privilege of raising two of his grandchildren, Henry Guyton (Nikki) of Gaffney and Allyson Guyton Parker (Dylon) of Gaffney.
He is also survived by two granddaughters, Melissa Ponds (Eric) of Gaffney and Andrea Ponds (Allen) of Gaffney.
Henry was blessed with great-grandchildren: Isable Guyton, Kenzley Thomas, Hayzlee Weese, Wyatt Parker, Bella Guyton, Ryan Weese, and Waylon Parker, all of Gaffney.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his special caregiver, Melissa Robertson, who faithfully cared for him over the past several months. They are deeply thankful for the love, compassion, and dedication she showed him during that time.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Floyd Wheeler, Mr. Henry Guyton, Mr. Ashby Blakely and Mr. Max Godfrey officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Shriner Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
The family will be at the home of his grandson, Henry Guyton, 632 Lowry Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
