Ray was like a second father for me. As a small boy, it was Ray that would tirelessly let myself and Frank Moreland jump off his shoulders at Camp Crystal lake during Family Camp with the FUMC. Ray allowed me to bat during church softball games when everyone else thought I was too small. I was too small, yet Mr. Massey taught me how to bat. Granted, I learned to bat right, when I was actually left handed. When our family and the Massey's went camping, the Massey's always took care of me. I remember staying at the camp site with Mr. and Mrs. Massey to cook hotdogs when everyone else went hiking. You see, my dad would always get lost and true to form, they did. The Massey's were a pillar of strenght to the church and Ray was the corner stone. I love the Massey's.

I loved Ray like a father. May the peace of God that defies human understanding through Christ Jesus belong to his family.

I've just gone through the 3 pages of the wonderful testimonials for Mr. Massy, you and the family. My heart, however breaking for the Massey family, is filled with so much joy in seeing the response so many recreational professionals have shared with you. You know he was more then a professional mentor to so many, he was like our best friend in FRPA especially District II which you wee so much of a part of. I hope your coping well and soon would like to come over and visit with you. I'm also avialbe to help you out with anyhting around the house where youmay need help. It would make me feel even more close and special to Mr. Massey. I also can't tell you how honored I was for him to request my presence as an "Honorary Pall Bearer". I willmiss him greatly but will never ever forget the countless great times I had with him at conference, the lake place or working on getting the tennis courts resurfaced at Turkey Creek Forest. I'm also going to work diligently in seeing about getting a park named after him and won't quit until that's accomplished. God bless you and the family and hope to visit with you soon.

Julie, my love and prayers are with you and the family. Ray was such a great man in so many ways. He could even stay a Seminole down there in Gator Country!!

His leadership will be felt for many, many generations. In many ways he is even closer now that he has graduated into the next life.

Julia and Family,
My heart felt thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Ray worked in Orlando as I did at one time. I saw his footprints there when I arrived and he was also on the interview/test committee when I became certified as a professional with FRPA. He has touched many professional lives and will always be remembered by many. I looked to Ray for advice on many occasions and he always delivered the response in his soothing and humble manner. I am a better professional and human being for having known Ray. I will not be able to attend the funeral tomorrow due to our family also having a loss. You can be assured my prayers will serve a dual purpose tomorrow. I want to thank the family for sharing such a great person with us these years because I know how much he cherished and loved his family.

Ray had a special place in our hearts in Georgia having served as President of GRPA in 1958. He was a devoted leader for the park and recreation field for many years and was a mentor to many of us. I always enjoyed talking with him in recent years about the ole days in recreation.

Mr. Ray was very special to me and always made me feel welcome whether it be an FRPA conference on just visiting. He had a unique way of incorporating humor into his conversations which made for a wonderful time whenever I was able to visit with him.

Mr. Ray will always hold a special place in my heart as he was a gentleman and a parks and recreation professional who understood people and the needs of the community.

He will be truely missed, but I am blessed to have had the opportunity to know him.
