Avis Leilich Obituary

LEILICH, AVIS RAE FRANK



Avis Rae Frank Leilich, 82, of Gainesville died Monday, March 10, 2008 after a long illness. Dr. Leilich was born in Carbondale, Illinois on 4-15-25. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Southern Illinois University, her Master's degree in Education from University of Illinois and her Doctorate in Education from Indiana University. Dr. Leilich taught in the public schools and colleges in both Illinois and Florida. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Fla. for over 50 years having taught Sunday School, working with the youth, college students, Girls in Action and as a member of the Chancel Choir.



Dr. Leilich is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Roy Edgar Leilich of Gainesville, Florida, sons Phillip Kevin and Douglas Scott Leilich of Gainesville, Florida and Steven Kent Leilich of Ocala, Florida.



Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Milam Funeral Home of Gainesville, Fla. A private burial including the immediate family will be held on March 14, 2008.



A public service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 425 W. University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32601 with the Reverend Lynwood Walters, officiating.
