Benjamin Goldberg (Ben) passed away in Steamboat Springs, CO on May 3, 2016.
He is survived by father Martin Goldberg, mother Paula Goldberg, brothers Jonathan Goldberg (Lisa) and Casey Goldberg (Jennifer) nephews Maxwell, Elijah, and Bryce River, and aunts, uncles and cousins including Melissa Stewart, uncle Russ Goldberg (Deb) cousins Jeremy, Lindsy, and Carly. He adored his nephews and will always be Uncle Benny.
His loss is felt deeply by his many Gainesville friends and extended family and those all over the country, and his partner Megan Smith. What Ben will be remembered for most is the amazing heart he brought to everyone who knew him and his love for life.
Born in 1975, he spent his early years in upstate New York. Ben attended Stephen Foster, Howard Bishop and Gainesville High School. He was a division I scholarship starting football player at UCF and a scholarship college baseball player.
A high point in Ben's life was hiking the entire 2,190 miles of the Appalachian Trail in 2014.
Ben was an adventurer at heart and was always looking forward to the next great experience. He traveled to Costa Rica, Belize, Mexico, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and hiked the Nepali Coast in Hawaii. He visited almost every state and National Park in the US.
Prior to selling real estate, he was a whitewater rafting guide trained in swift water rescue, a certified EMT, and manifested building a 'healthy home' in Micanopy for family.
A gathering and service will be held on May21 at our family property in Micanopy 22265 NW 87th Ave Road beginning at 4pm Please view our facebook page Remembering Ben Goldberg for further information.

I feel fortunate to stay connected to Paula, so together we can mourn and celebrate our sons. Eric so looked up to Ben, and many of his happiest memories were times with the Goldbergs. Ben was larger than life to Eric. I am so grateful for his life.

I was looking up my old friend and just found out of his passing. Ben was a great guy to be around, at least I know he enjoyed life to the fullest. Old Teammate at UCF.

When I think back of my high school memories, Ben is in almost every one of them. He was always so funny and the life of the party. If Ben was around you knew it was going to be a great time. I consider it a gift to have known such a great human being and my prayers go out to the entire Goldberg family and all that loved him. RIP my friend

Since my freshman year of high school we were instant friends. I cannot believe I have to write something like this. I wish I could have been able to say goodbye to you. I wish I would not have let years go by without seeing you. Any situation I got myself into.... and there were a few, I could always count on you. We could always pick right back up where we left off no matter the duration of our separation. To my beautiful friend who was taken too soon, I love you & miss you.

Such a sweet, lovable, big, fun guy to be with. I'm saddened to hear you're gone much too soon as you were so loved by many and your face and big persona will be missed greatly. The only solace I can muster up was the privilege to have known you. Thanks for your awesome presence and I'll cherish my memories with you dearly!

Ben's smile always lit up the room and his energy spilled over everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. Our encounters over the last few years were super sparse with chance meetings about town in Gainesville. I will miss seeing Ben's jolly face. My days always felt better after seeing him. I know many hearts hurt at hearing of his passing. His light shined so bright. Peace be with the Goldberg family.

I loved you like a brother for 34 years. You will be missed beyond words by many. You touched so many lives, and mad so much better by a simple smile. You where a great friend, fellow athlete, partner in crime, confidant with the most personal things of my life. We worked well together, traveled together, explored life together. And no matter the good or bad either of us was facing... we always believed in each other, and strive off that strength.
From get together every week at Bone and Lisa's (Prison Break and Lost), to Juddy and I leading the way into the End Zone to be Vanguard.
Ill miss you like no other. You where one of the good ones. Not a mean bone in your body; tough as nails. But never ever mean to anyone.
Now I can feel you, Mike, Trevor, Nick, and Jason holding it down for us until we see you again....
I love you Ben Goldberg. Rest in Sweet Peace.
