Brian Sergeant Obituary

Brian Sergeant
December 28, 1970 – September 30, 2020
Brian Sergeant passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, September 30, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Aliza Bar-David Sergeant and his brother, Frederick "Fred" Sergeant IV. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Frederick Eugene Sergeant III and Glenna Sue Sergeant.
"He never was a hero,
or this Country's shining light,
But you could always find him standing up
For what he thought was right"
Brian's signature greeting, a bear hug and a jovial smile, is what he would expect to see lighting up your face just now, he would expect to be remembered for his passionate loves, his wife, his family, his dogs, his guns, his cars and his President. He was a one-of-a-kind- human whose life truly warranted the fondest of remembrances.
In honor of Brian, please join us in a celebration of his life, Irish Wake style. Come share a story, tell a lie, but do it with same bright smile and wistful enthusiasm Brian carried with him always. The celebration will begin Sunday, October 4th, at 2:00pm at Aliza and Brian's home, 4235 NW 66th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32606..
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the North Central Florida Humane Society in Brian's memory.

Brian was an incredible friend and always fun to be around. He had great love for his friends and of course the Florida Gators! Think about him often and miss our conversations. We were friends for over 25 years!

Brian. I look at your face daily. The pics of us and the painting I had made of you. Sometimes my heart sinks when I think about you not being here. I mention you by name daily Bubba. I love and miss you horribly

I didn't know Brian well or long, but he took me to lunch when I was an intern at City Hall. We talked about my love of Japan and my mom's love of Ponzu sauce, and one day down the road, he surprised me with a souvenir from a trip to Japan and a bottle of Ponzu sauce for my mom! A real class act, and he also introduced me to Polo Blue, the best cologne ever. I can't imagine the gap he'll leave in the lives of those nearest and dearest to him.

Brian was an incredible friend and holds a special piece of my heart always. I will remember him for his smile, his sarcastic humor, his love for animals, and so much more. I am grateful for the time we spent together in high school and for his everlasting friendship.

Brian was a great person. We enjoyed getting to know him and Aliza. He always seemed very happy and welcoming to us. He greeted us like we were family that he hadn't seen in years. We will miss him and hope to grow closer to Aliza. Thank you for the love you gave to my Daughter Sophia. It meant so much to not only her, but also to me. You left a huge mark on the people and animals here on earth.
Love,
Monica and Gary Brook

I was friends with Brian in high school and you could always count on him to lighten the mood and make everyone smile. I'm sorry to say we lost touch through the years but my heart is with his family.

Brian was one of those people that you could always count on him to have a smile and gentle kind word. When i found out about 9/11, it was Brian that stop where I was standing on the 3rd floor of City Hall to take the time to tell me as only he could with his gentle kind voice, holding my hands as he was telling me how the world had changed. Anyone that was lucky enough to cross paths with Brian was left with some good in their life. Thinking of Aliza and Fred and friends during this time.

I feel like I grew up with Brian at City Hall in Finance. He was quick with a joke & flash of a smile, even when racing to the next the meeting in the stairwell (my favorite kind of people!). He always made time for friends & family, not just work & investments. I will remember him as a happy soul who, in turn, made mine happy. We will continue to smile & laugh for you buddy. I'll miss your jokes & fun spirit Until we pass again in the stairwell to Heaven

Brian was special. He always had a big smile on his face and was genuine in his words and actions. He called me doctor, never new why, but it just sounded right coming from him. Aliza, I will miss him and can't put into words how much my heart breaks for you.
